NSW Energy Saving Scheme & Peak Demand Reduction Scheme
DNR Air Conditioning & Electrical participates in the NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) and Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) in partnership with an Accredited Certificate Provider (ACP).
These NSW Government-regulated programs provide incentives to help eligible households and businesses upgrade to more energy-efficient air-conditioning systems, reduce electricity consumption and lower demand during peak periods.
DNR has also teamed up with ActronAir to help customers access eligible incentives when upgrading to selected high-efficiency ActronAir systems.
ActronAir is an Australian-owned family business with more than 40 years of experience designing air-conditioning systems for Australian conditions.
Eligibility and incentive amounts vary according to the selected equipment, installation and current scheme requirements. If an incentive applies, DNR will calculate and clearly itemise the upfront discount on your written quote.
What Does This Mean For You?
Through the ESS and PDRS, eligible customers may be able to:

The incentive is an upfront discount—not a cash rebate claimed after installation.
The amount is not fixed. It will depend on factors including the selected system, its heating and cooling capacity, energy efficiency, whether an existing system is being replaced, the installation location and the current value of the certificates created.
Participation is voluntary, and eligibility must be confirmed before installation. The ESS and PDRS operate under the NSW Energy Security Safeguard and are regulated by IPART.
How It Works
- We assess your requirements
DNR reviews your existing air-conditioning system, property requirements and preferred replacement or new system. - We check equipment eligibility
If applicable, we identify an eligible high-efficiency system that meets your heating and cooling requirements. - The incentive is calculated
Our Accredited Certificate Provider calculates the incentive available for the proposed equipment and installation. - The upfront discount is itemised on your quote
Your DNR quote will clearly show the applicable ESS or PDRS incentive and the resulting customer price. - We complete the required documentation
DNR assists with the customer declarations, installation records and compliance documentation required by the scheme. - Your system is professionally installed
The installation is completed by appropriately licensed tradespeople in accordance with applicable technical, electrical, safety and scheme requirements.
Eligible Energy Savings Certificates or Peak Reduction Certificates are created through our Accredited Certificate Provider after the applicable requirements have been satisfied.
The incentive is not a fixed amount. It can vary depending on the system’s make, model, capacity and efficiency, whether an existing system is being replaced, the installation location, certificate values and applicable compliance and administration costs.
Any government examples referring to a 6kW air conditioner are indicative examples only. A 6kW system is not necessarily a minimum requirement, and the actual incentive for a particular installation may be higher or lower than an advertised example.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Eligible installations are completed in accordance with applicable:
- NSW electrical and consumer-safety requirements;
- Work Health and Safety requirements;
- manufacturer installation instructions;
- refrigerant recovery and recycling requirements;
- ESS and PDRS technical requirements; and
- scheme documentation, customer-consent and record-keeping obligations.
As part of the scheme process:
- DNR maintains the required installation and customer records;
- refrigerant removed from replaced systems is appropriately recovered and handled;
- the proposed system and completed installation must satisfy the applicable eligibility requirements;
- projects may be inspected or independently audited; and
- eligible certificates are created through our Accredited Certificate Provider.
These requirements help protect customers, verify genuine energy savings and maintain the integrity of the NSW Energy Security Safeguard programs.
Eligibility and incentive amounts remain subject to final verification and completion of the required documentation.
NSW Home Energy Saver Zero-Interest Loans
DNR Air Conditioning & Electrical is an approved Brighte supplier and a New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) Approved Seller.
Eligible NSW homeowners and landlords may apply for a NSW Government-funded zero-interest loan of up to $15,000 to help pay for approved home energy upgrades, including eligible reverse-cycle air-conditioning systems.
The loans are delivered through approved finance providers, including Brighte. Applications are subject to:
- the NSW Home Energy Saver eligibility requirements;
- Brighte’s application and credit-assessment process;
- the proposed equipment being an eligible upgrade;
- use of an approved supplier; and
- completion of the required customer and supplier documentation.
Finance approval is not guaranteed. DNR does not provide financial advice, but our team can provide an eligible system quote and help customers begin the Brighte application process.
Home Energy Saver Household Discount—Coming Soon
The NSW Government has announced a separate household discount of up to $4,000 for eligible home energy upgrades, including eligible reverse-cycle air-conditioning systems.
The announced eligibility includes NSW households that:
- have a combined annual household income of up to $80,000; or
- hold an eligible concession card.
Applications and detailed program guidelines for this discount are not yet available. DNR cannot guarantee that a customer, product or installation will qualify until the NSW Government releases the final application and eligibility requirements.
This forthcoming household discount is separate from:
- the existing NSW Energy Savings Scheme upfront incentive; and
- the Home Energy Saver zero-interest loan.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the household discount can be combined with an ESS or PDRS incentive for the same installation.
Customers who wish to apply for both the household discount and a zero-interest loan for the same purchase should follow the current NSW Government guidance and apply for the household discount first.
Customers considering the forthcoming discount may need to wait for the application process to open before accepting a quote, paying a deposit, ordering equipment or commencing installation.
